I am listing here some good computer related tips which may help you a lot.

1). If you are using Windows XP Professional then you must apply Service Pack 2.

2). Always read good computer magazines like Digit , IC Chip etc. You will find many tips and tricks in these magazines.

3). Always apply latest windows updates using Autopatcher.

4).To get windows work more fast follow following tips:-

a). Always keep your disk and cd-rom drives on DMA (Direct Memory Access) mode instead of PIO (Programmed Input Output Memory access) as DMA mode is more fast memory access mode. You may enable it by going to advance settings->Transfer Mode->DMA (if avaliable) of IDE channels (Primary and secondary) listed under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in Device manager in Win XP/2000/ME/98.

b). Always keep your virtual memory (page file) in the last non-boot drive  after defragmenting it. You must specify the max. and min. size of page file about twice your system RAM. You may specify it by right-clicking My computer-> Advanced->Settings (Visual effects)-> Advanced ->Change Virtual Memory. And specify it as required. But be sure that you have done right settings otherwise you may end up with crashing system.

d). Always keep your windows in The best performance mode instead of The best appearance mode by right clicking My Computer-> Properties-> Advanced ->Performance settings. Click the radio button Adjust for best performance and in the box below it check the last three boxes if you want to keep current windows theme instead of classic windows theme. Also you may check the boxes which you like. It really boosts the computer's performance.

e). Remove unwanted fonts as it slowly degrades the system performance by Control Panel-> Fonts. Select and delete the unwanted fonts.

f). Always defragment your hard-drive regularly.
